The Vision Council (TVC) Foundation has launched its 2025 Back-to-School Eye Health Campaign, a national initiative aimed at encouraging families to prioritize children’s eye exams and vision care as the new school year begins.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of early detection of vision issues, such as myopia, through routine comprehensive eye exams. Good vision is linked to children’s academic performance, development, and overall well-being.
To support the initiative, TVC Foundation has released a free back-to-school promotional toolkit, designed for eyecare professionals, educators, and community partners to promote awareness around children's vision health. The downloadable resources include the following:
-
Sample social media posts and key messages for parents and caregivers
-
Printable graphics and materials promoting healthy vision habits
-
Tools for school nurses and guidance counselors to advocate for eye exams and inform older students about career paths in the optical industry
“Children deserve to have the best possible chance at learning and thriving in school, and their vision is essential to that success,” says Ashley Mills, CEO of TVC and TVC Foundation. “Healthy vision habits start at home and are reinforced in our schools and communities. It’s on all of us—parents and guardians, teachers, school nurses, and the entire eyecare community—to make sure that every child receives the screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and support they need to see clearly and reach their full potential.”
