The Optical Training Institute (OTI) has introduced a new digital course, “ABO-Advanced Exam Prep: Next Level Optics,” designed to help experienced opticians prepare for the ABO Advanced Certification Exam (ABO-AC).
The self-paced, online program provides comprehensive study materials and real-world applications for opticians aiming to deepen their knowledge and advance their careers. Building on foundational optical theory, the course covers advanced topics such as visual function assessment, ocular pathology, and lens design principles through a multimedia learning experience that includes videos, illustrations, case studies, and interactive tools.
“The course provides comprehensive study materials for ABO-AC candidates preparing for the ABO advanced certification exam, including detailed coverage of advanced optical concepts such as Martin’s formula and sagittal depth,” says EB board member and course contributor Andrew Bruce, LDO, ABOM, NCLEM, FCLSA. “It offers clear instructions and worksheets designed to facilitate practical application of related formulas. Optical Training Institute’s platform incorporates high-quality graphics, videos, and instrument simulations to enhance the learning experience.”
The course is tailored for opticians who already hold ABO certification and are preparing to pursue the ABO-AC credential. Enrollment is open at $249, with an optional physical textbook available for $50. Participants receive one year of access to all materials and study tools.
