National Vision Holdings Inc. has opened submissions for its 2025–2026 annual scholarship program, offering optometry students the chance to earn up to $7,500 in awards.
This year’s theme, “Emerging Technology in Optometry,” invites third- and fourth-year optometry students to submit written or video essays on how innovations such as portable diagnostic tools, vision-screening apps, and next-generation eyewear can help expand access to eye care. Participants are encouraged to consider both the accuracy and affordability of these technologies, particularly in reaching underserved communities.
“Technology is opening exciting new doors in the delivery of eye care, but it must be used thoughtfully to truly expand access,” says Alexander Smith, OD, head of doctor network at National Vision. “We want to hear from the next generation of optometrists about how these innovations can be applied to improve eye health outcomes, especially for patients who too often face barriers to care. Their ideas will help shape a future where quality eye care is accessible for all.”
The program will award one first-place scholarship of $7,500 and two runner-up scholarships of $2,500 each. Eligible students must be enrolled and in good standing at an optometry school in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or Canada.
Submissions are due by Jan. 31, 2026, with winners to be announced by March 1. Entries can be submitted through National Vision’s scholarship portal, hosted in collaboration with Eyes on Eyecare, here.
