The Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) announced a series of leadership changes:

Julie DeKinder, OD, has been appointed chair of the ACOE. Dr. DeKinder, associate dean of academic programs and director of residency programs at the University of Missouri–St. Louis College of Optometry, has served on the council since 2018 and as vice chair since 2022.

Michelle Welch, OD, has been named vice chair of the ACOE. Dr. Welch is a staff optometrist with the Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority in Idabel, Oklahoma, and has served on the council since 2021.

Former chair G. Timothy Petito, OD, who led the ACOE from 2022 to 2025, will remain on the council as a member.
 
BostonSight has appointed Karen Carrasquillo, OD, PhD, FAAO, FSLS, FBCLA, as chief innovation and education officer, succeeding her previous role as senior vice president of clinical and professional affairs. Dr. Carrasquillo has led several key initiatives at BostonSight, including the development of BostonSight Scleral, the “Smart Suite” of lens technologies, and FitAcademy, an international education program for eyecare professionals. A frequent industry speaker and published author, she was also recently named to the 2025 ALX100, recognizing outstanding Latino American leaders in Massachusetts.
EssilorLuxottica has appointed Brandi Marsh as senior vice president of human resources for professional solutions in North America. Marsh brings more than 25 years of leadership experience, most recently serving as SVP of global human resources for DePuy Synthes, the orthopaedic company of Johnson & Johnson. In her new role, she will lead HR strategy for professional solutions North America, including talent development, organizational design, and employee engagement, reporting to Fabrizio Uguzzoni, president of professional solutions, EssilorLuxottica, Americas.

InFocus Eyecare has announced a new partnership with College Optical Express, located on the University of Central Florida (UCF) campus and led by Charles Descheneaux, OD, FAAO, PhD. The clinic will continue serving UCF students, faculty, and the surrounding community under Dr. Descheneaux’s leadership, now supported by InFocus Eyecare’s network and resources. The company now includes more than 25 full-scope optometry practices across seven states in the eastern U.S.
