The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) has unveiled an updated brand identity and a redesigned Vision Atlas, its global platform for eye health data. The organization, which works to end avoidable sight loss and blindness worldwide, said the updates aim to strengthen communication, advocacy, and planning efforts in the sector.
The enhanced Vision Atlas provides open-access data, trends, and insights to support advocacy, policy development, and accountability. According to IAPB, the platform is designed to help governments and other stakeholders visualize the scale of vision-related challenges, track progress, and guide decision-making. The tool was developed with input from a group of data contributors and is supported by sponsors who promote the use of data in addressing eye health needs.
“Extraordinary progress has been made in the past few years to tackle avoidable sight loss. Our new Vision Atlas and brand refresh ensure we can communicate confidently and be bold in our efforts to embed eye care as a fundamental development issue, integrate it within wider health care, and activate demand for services,” says Peter Holland, IAPB CEO. “Putting it simply, we haven’t changed our name, our purpose, or our ambition. What we have changed is how we present to the world.”
The rebrand retains the IAPB name but introduces a new logo inspired by a diagnostic tool used to detect and correct refractive errors. The updated identity was developed over two years with a focus on accessibility, including high-contrast colors and design features that meet industry standards for readability. The new tagline, “Changing how everyone, everywhere sees,” reflects the organization’s goal of increasing global awareness of eye health issues.
“For this rebrand, we made a conscious choice not to turn to a large branding agency. Instead, we have worked with brilliant minds in branding and communications who know this sector, who are deeply engaged with IAPB, and those who challenged us to think big,” says Simon Darvill, IAPB director of communications for campaigns and events.
