Bausch + Lomb has announced the launch of “Eyes Tell the Story: The Impact of Dry Eye,” a national educational campaign aimed at raising awareness of dry eye symptoms, treatment options, and the importance of seeking professional care.
The initiative builds on “Know Your Dry Eye,” the 2024 campaign that introduced findings from the company’s first State of Dry Eye survey. The new campaign features updated survey data collected from U.S. dry eye sufferers currently using either prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) treatments.
Here are some key findings from the 2025 survey:
- Seventy-eight percent of respondents expressed a desire for more resources and education about dry eye.
- Sixty-two percent mistakenly believed or were unsure whether dry eye resolves itself after treatment.
- Forty-three percent incorrectly thought or were unsure if dry eye is a temporary condition.
- Forty percent of sufferers delayed seeing an eye doctor for six months or more despite experiencing symptoms.
- Among those on prescription treatment, 88% wished they had started earlier.
- Seventy-one percent indicated they value treatment options that provide consistent relief over time.
As part of the campaign, Bausch + Lomb partnered with photographer and artist Kayte Demont, who created a series of portraits featuring individuals affected by dry eye. Among those highlighted are interior designer and health advocate Alvin Wayne and fashion and lifestyle blogger Brianne Manz, both sharing their personal experiences with the condition.
“Approximately 150 million U.S. adults experience occasional or frequent symptoms of dry eye, with around 38 million living with chronic dry eye, also known as dry eye disease,” says Yehia Hashad, MD, executive vice president, research & development and chief medical officer, Bausch + Lomb. “By spotlighting these personal stories, we hope to help more people recognize their dry eye symptoms sooner so they will seek and find relief.”
The campaign emphasizes the availability of various relief options, including OTC drops, nutritional supplements, and prescription treatments, depending on the severity and cause of symptoms.
