The organizers of Silmo d’Or 2026 have named Joachim Froment as president of the jury for the 2026 edition of the awards program, which takes place during Silmo Paris at the Paris Nord Villepinte from September 25 to 28.
Based in Brussels, Froment is an industrial designer and creative director who is known for work that combines design, technology, and user experience. A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, he began his career in Copenhagen before cofounding Futurewave, a design and technology studio that has collaborated with companies including Renault, LVMH, and Richemont.
According to Silmo Paris, Froment’s work spans categories including furniture, mobility, lighting, and consumer electronics, with a focus on the relationships among users, objects, and their environments. His approach emphasizes what he describes as an “ecosystemic” vision of design, incorporating ideas of circular systems and long-term interaction between products and consumers.
Froment has received several international design honors, including iF Design Awards, Good Design Awards, and Core77 Awards. Organizers of Silmo Paris said his appointment reflects the organization’s interest in exploring the intersection of innovation, technology, and contemporary optical design.
