The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has announced its second Global Child Eye Health Symposium, bringing together experts from health care, education, public policy, and technology to explore ways to improve children's access to vision care worldwide.

Hosted on EssilorLuxottica's Leonardo learning platform, the symposium will examine the relationship between vision and children's education, inclusion, and long-term well-being. Five sessions will address topics including the growing prevalence of childhood myopia, emerging vision-screening technologies, children's development, and strategies for integrating vision care into schools and health care systems.

Speakers will include representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), India Vision Institute, and OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, as well as EssilorLuxottica chief scientific officer Norbert Gorny, MD.

"The 2nd Global Child Eye Health Symposium demonstrates what is possible when organizations come together around a shared purpose," said Alessandra Senici, head of OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation in a news release. "By combining expertise, innovation and partnerships, we can help make good vision the norm for every child."

The foundation works with nongovernmental organizations, governments, and other partners to expand access to eye exams and glasses and strengthen vision care systems in underserved communities. According to the organization, its efforts have reached more than 140 countries and enabled access to vision care for more than 1 billion people.

The symposium will be available through Leonardo, EssilorLuxottica's educational platform for eyecare and eyewear professionals.
