Marchon Eyewear, together with Marcolin, announced the passing of eyewear industry veteran Laurence “Larry” Roth, who passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 75.
Roth was an influential leader and business visionary in the optical industry, establishing Marchon Eyewear in 1983 alongside the late Al Berg and his brother-in-law, the late Jeff White. A dynamic and passionate leader, Roth was co-founder and served as co-president of Marchon, responsible for the sales structure in the United States.
After many years of building Marchon until the sale to VSP Vision in 2008, Roth and his wife Nanci went into business alongside their daughter Jaime, founding the racing and breeding operation LNJ Foxwoods.
“Larry had an analytical mind, an incredible memory, and an extraordinary ability with numbers, which he used to develop sales strategies and growth programs that helped shape the company’s success," said Nicola Zotta, VSP Vision president of eyewear, managing director Marchon Eyewear and Marcolin, in a company press release. "Larry is deeply woven into the fabric of Marchon’s proud history, and his legacy will continue to influence the teams at Marchon and Marcolin now and in the future. He will be greatly missed.”
"[Roth] will be remembered fondly by everyone who has worked with him over the years, and he leaves an incredible legacy behind. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and loved ones during this time," the company said in the press release.
Roth is survived by his wife, Nanci; children, Jaime, Scott, and David; and grandchildren, Liv and Poppy.
