At Kering Eyewear’s November 3 press day at Glasshouse Chelsea in New York City, inspiration for spring/summer 2027 eyewear extended well beyond the frame board. Familiar brand signatures appeared in hardware, temple treatments, and accessories, giving eyecare professionals design stories to share alongside the season’s silhouettes.
Montblanc translated details from its writing instruments into eyewear hardware, while Cartier drew on its jewelry and watchmaking heritage.
Among Cartier’s talking points were panther motifs, a square frame referencing the Tank watch, and a style with a leather bridge accent that snaps on and off.
Bottega Veneta carried its signature knot across the assortment, including smaller cat-eyes.
Another standout paired sunwear with a chain connected to the temples by removable woven-leather elements.
Gucci offered miniature horsebit temple details and bamboo-inspired metal accents that referenced its handbags.
At Valentino, prominent V details linked eyewear to the house’s accessories, while blue- and violet-tinted wraparounds introduced color.
Proportions provided another thread.
Chloé combined generous shapes with tortoiseshell and metal, adding coinlike temple embellishments.
Alaïa explored fresh colors in its chunky sunwear, with broad silhouettes designed to frame the face.
Saint Laurent showed aviators and pronounced brow bars, while Balenciaga moved between sculptural black shapes and racing-inspired sunwear.
The displays also offered a counterpoint to decorative flourishes: Dunhill presented Japanese-made titanium styles, and Maui Jim emphasized sport sunwear and fog control.
For the dispensary, the preview suggested several ways to build a varied assortment: Balance bold fronts with fine metalwork, offer both compact and oversized shapes, and draw attention to the small details that connect a frame to a brand’s broader design world.
