Eyedaptic introduces the EYE7, smart glasses designed to assist people with age-related macular degeneration and other retinal conditions that cause central vision loss. The company also announced the launch of its Visual Assistant Family, a suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools integrated into the platform.
The EYE7 combines real-time vision enhancement technology with AI-based visual assistance intended to help users interpret and interact with their surroundings. Eyedaptic said the smart glasses are designed to improve visual acuity and contrast for individuals who have vision impairments, including features such as customizable viewing modes, an ergonomic design for extended wear, and software that can be updated remotely to add new capabilities.
The platform includes 2 AI assistants: Ivy, which is currently available, and Eva, which is being offered through an early-access beta program. According to the company, the AI assistants provide functions such as reading text and signage, identifying objects, and offering contextual information about a user's environment. Ivy incorporates web-based search and external information sources, while Eva focuses on real-time image analysis, conversational interaction, and voice-controlled operation.
Eyedaptic said the EYE7 platform was developed in collaboration with clinicians and users who have retinal disease with the goal to support greater independence and accessibility for people living with vision loss.
