April 30, 2020 — Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, many companies in the industry and beyond are sharing their efforts to help eyecare professionals, and the public, weather these turbulent times.

Here, we share a roundup of some recent initiatives:

ADO Practice Solutions has launched “Rebound,” a new marketing program powered by DONE4YOU Marketing which aims to help independent eye care providers as they reopen their practices amid the effects of Covid-19.

The new Charmant Shield aims to reduce the exposure to droplets in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The first 5,050 face shields and an additional 2,000 protective goggles will be donated to local medical professionals in the Fukui Prefecture in Japan, where the company’s headquarters is located. For now, Charmant is supplying the shields within Japan, but is looking to develop worldwide distribution as its production capacity increases. 

As screen time soars while the nation works and learns from home amid the Covid-19 pandemic, ClearVision Optical (CVO) and BluTech have teamed up to create new learning opportunities and launch a direct shipping program for ECPs to offer patients.
The direct ship program, the first of its kind for CVO, allows ECPs to invite their patients to shop BluTech Eyewear on Patients can place an order for plano blue light-blocking eyewear through their eyecare provider, and CVO will fulfill the order, shipping directly to the patient’s home. Upon reopening their business, ECPs can perform a final fitting for each pair of eyewear sold. 
The companies have also created a complimentary library of marketing assets where ECPs can download imagery to be used in emails or on social media.  
BluTech has also launched online educational courses on the topic of blue light, which will provide ECPs with a blue light certification upon completion. 

Eye Designs Group is introducing an optical-specific freestanding protective Germ Shield/Sneeze Guard. Designed to sit on dispensing tables to protect your staff and patients with social distancing, the product is 24”w x 36”h and is custom made for the optical environment. The freestanding units are compatible with most dispensing tables, are easy to sanitize, and can easily be moved to other dispensing areas.

GSRx has developed a kit for its practice partners to aid in their Covid-19 prevention efforts now or when they reopen. The kit includes KN95 and N95 masks, full face shields, hand sanitizers, a checklist for regular cleaning of touchpoints within the office, and more. To purchase:

Sight for All United and three other Youngstown, OH-based companies, Fitz Frames, Classic Optical, and Dinesol Plastics, Inc., are collaborating to provide prescription and non-prescription protective eyewear and face shields to enhance droplet protection. 

SN Optical has unveiled microfiber bandanas with optical designs, which can be customized with a practice’s branding.
