June 25, 2020 — Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, many companies in the industry and beyond are sharing their efforts to help eyecare professionals, and the public, weather these turbulent times.

Here, we share a roundup of some recent initiatives:

ClearVision Optical has launched a collection of Personal Protective Equipment, including masks, face shields, nitrile gloves, anti-fog goggles, infrared forehead thermometers, sneeze guards, and pupilometer breath shields. “Our team evaluated several face shields and found the ClearShield to be of the highest quality for the price,” says Andrew Rubin, senior VP of clinical affairs and ambulatory care at NYU Langone Health, about CVO’s ClearShield. “Our team was highly satisfied with the shield’s level of clarity, comfortability, and durability.”

has launched a virtual exhibit booth to provide would-be in-person conference attendees with a similar experience from the comfort and safety of their own homes. Johnson & Johnson Vision has donated $320K to support practitioners and schools of optometry in their efforts to provide eye care to communities impacted by Covid-19. A donation to Optometry Cares—The AOA Foundation will provide financial support to ECPs uniquely impacted by Covid-19 and help ensure eye care remains available. The donation to the American Academy of Optometry Foundation will support procuring and distributing masks to practitioners and schools of optometry in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada.
