The 23rd annual Transitions Academy—hosted by Transitions Optical, Inc.—has wrapped, after three days of professional development and product technology workshops in Orlando, FL. Among the highlights was the 2018 Transitions Innovation Awards program. Amanda Rights, O.D., of Blue Ridge Vision
in Boone, N.C., was named Transitions Brand Ambassador. Dr. Rights also runs an eyewear-centered blog, OptomEyesLife. The Innovation Awards recognize both individuals and companies for their innovative efforts to support the Transitions brand over the past year.

The theme of this year’s Transitions Academy was “Light Years Ahead,” and featured presentations by key Transitions executives, including Jose Alves, general manager, Americas; Chrystel Barranger, president Essilor Photochromics and Transitions Optical. The 2019 marketing and consumer outreach plans were presented by Patience Cook, director, North America marketing, Rose Harris, senior associate director, channel marketing and Vanessa Johns, director, Latin America marketing.
Attendees were provided technology workshops to better understand Transitions’ two new product launches in 2019—Transitions Signature Gen 8 (coming this summer) and the new Acuvue OASYS with Transitions Light Intelligent Technology, a photochromic contact lens (available April 1).
