The Vision Council has released its 2017 Annual Report, which celebrates a few of the organization’s major accomplishments and the progress made across the industry throughout the past year.
From the positive response to consumer campaigns, including nearly 1.5 million eye exams driven by Think About Your Eyes, to its many member programs and Vision Expos—The Vision Council reached unprecedented numbers of consumers and industry leaders in 2017.
In addition to Think About Your Eyes and the Vision Expo shows, The Vision Council’s accomplishments include:
- Its VisionWatch market research team interviewed more than 120,000 consumers and produced more than 63,000 data points and 170 reports to allow members to make informed business decisions.
- The research and advocacy efforts of the government and regulatory affairs team saved lens and lab members more than $10,000,000 in estimated yearly compliance costs through the FDA exemption of optical lenses from UDI regulations, and meeting with U.S. Representatives across the country as well as on Capitol Hill to ensure members’ interests are met.
- Consumer campaigns such as Eyecessorize (530+ million media impressions), National Sunglasses Day and general UV outreach (900+ media impressions), Digital Eye Strain (367+ media impressions) were combined with member appearances on television, blogging partnerships, and social media hashtags to spread the message of the benefits of optical products and the of the importance of eye health.
