EDITOR'S LETTER

Iconic.

This month, I feel incredibly fortunate to have encountered so many amazing people emblematic of their craft. On our cover, we feature legendary jazz drummer Billy Kaye, who not only has played and toured the world with greats like Thelonius Monk and Count Basie, he also competed in the 1952 Olympics in track & field. Iconic.

Starting on page 28, we lay down some style harmonies with Kaye plus five more prolific NYC-based jazz musicians in our Iconic. fashion feature to reveal the coolest men’s trends in eyewear right now—shot at Fat Cat club in New York by coveted jazz photographer Kasia Idzkowska.

In this issue, we spec out six globally known jazz musicians, including the legendary Billy Kaye.

Fitting optician Armando Lagji of Selima Optique working his magic with musician Antoine Drye.

Selima Salaun outfits musician Philip Dizack on set.

Sax player Brent Birckhead with EB Senior Art Director William Pfaff.

Fundraising for kids’ vision screenings + Rx eyewear last month with the iconic Von Miller—Broncos linebacker + founder of the charity Von’s Vision—at an OWA event organized in part by EB.

A huge thank-you to Fat Cat for hosting us, and to jazz trumpeter + producer Antoine Drye for his help in making this vision a reality. You can catch a behind-the-scenes look right here (and on our Instagram)—the EB team was honored to have iconic edCFDA designer + eyewear retailing phenom Selima Salaun join us for creative input.

Also in this issue, don’t miss EB’s essential annual Regional Trends Report (What’s in Your Region? starting on page 44), which unpacks critical competitive intel—U.S. region by region—culled from our BIG focus group study. Dig in.

We hope you enjoy the issue!
